Experience the power of public education.
NLRPD Officer Tommy Norman was the guest speaker on Wednesday in Ms. Garner’s Child Development Class at MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH SCHOOL. He shared the story of his life and what factors influenced him to build relationships within the communities he works in, as it’s called positive community policing. Norman is known nationally for his community involvement and "encouraging others to go out and make a difference in their corner of the world."
Afterwards, the students presented Officer Norman with a huge basket of handmade teddy bears they made in class for him to give to children he meets along the way, children he visits in the hospitals and/or various other moments when a child needs comforting.
