We are excited to introduce Ms. Beirne as the newest member of the SHMS Family!
Hello there! I'm Emily Beirne and I am so excited to be a part of the SHMS family as a 7th grade ELA teacher! I've heard wonderful things about the strong sense of community here at Sylvan Hills and I am truly honored to be a part of it. It's probably no surprise, but English has always been my favorite subject. I was that student who always had a book (or three) in my backpack and couldn't wait to visit the library. I hope to inspire my students to see how reading and writing can broaden their horizons and spark their imaginations.
On a lighter note, I absolutely love to travel. Exploring different cultures and hearing people's stories is something that brings me immense joy. I've been fortunate enough to visit 7 countries so far, which just means there are 188 more on my list!
My main goal for this year is to create a classroom community that motivates and excites students, making them eager to return day after day. I can't wait to meet all of you! 💙

We are excited to introduce Ms. Reimer as the newest member of the SHMS Family!
Hello there! I'm Lexi Reimer and I'm thrilled to introduce myself as the new MS Choir director at SHMS. I am so looking forward to becoming a part of the Sylvan Hills community and contributing to a school and district that values the arts and offers students numerous opportunities to explore their interests. One of the things I love most about being a choir director is the chance to create music with my students every day and witness their development as musicians and individuals. Outside of school, you'll likely find me hanging out with my dog Bruno, reading, or enjoying the great outdoors. My main goal for this school year is to see growth within the choir program and to ensure that choir is a safe and inclusive space for all students. I am eager to meet everyone and start making beautiful music together!

We are excited to introduce Ms. Belcher as the newest member of the SHMS Family!
Hi there! I'm April Belcher, the School Counselor for sixth graders at Sylvan Hills Middle School. I'm thrilled to be a part of this school community, where I can help students succeed socially, emotionally, and academically. One of the things I love most about my job is connecting with students, staff, and the community, and facing challenges with a positive outlook. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two sons and husband, engaging in outdoor activities, watching sports and movies, and going for a swim. I also try to read a number of books equal to my age each year for leisure, although I don't always meet that goal. This year, my focus is on building relationships with all the students I work with and helping them realize their full potential!

The United Nations established the International Day of Friendship in 2011 to encourage peace and build bridges between communities. You can celebrate by simply reconnecting with a friend or take things up a notch by hosting a party. #pcssdproud #serveall

Say Goodbye to Summer Slide with this tip from Michele Pickett of ROBINSON ELEMENTARY: "While traveling, play games. Finding the letters of the alphabet from signs and license plates helps students practice reading and learn about the world around them!" #pcssdproud #serveall

We are excited to introduce Ms. Moore as the newest member of the SHMS Family!
¡Saludos! I'm LaTasha Moore, the new Spanish teacher at SHMS. I've been fluent in Spanish and immersed in the culture for over a decade now. I am passionate about expanding perspectives and showing others the vastness of life beyond the United States. In my free time, I enjoy reading Bible-based books. Although I haven't had the chance to work with the staff yet, I can already tell that SHMS is going to be a wonderful place for me. Thank you all for this opportunity!

Quick reminder that Mr. Hudgeons is doing tours of SHMS as well as Q&A at 4pm Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th.

Please help us wish Ms. Hardnett a very Happy Birthday! 🎂 💙, Your SHMS Family 🐻

We are excited to introduce Coach Nantze as the newest member of the SHMS Family!
Hello there! I'm Tanner Nantze and I'm excited to be joining the team as a PE teacher, Head Boys Basketball, Girls Assistant Basketball, and Volleyball coach. I really appreciate the confidence and motivation that I see in this community. Besides teaching Physical Education, I also have a passion for English. Writing allows me to unwind and get lost in creativity, which is something I truly value. Outside of work, I love staying active by playing basketball, working out, and traveling. I also enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family. My goal for the upcoming school year is to learn from my colleagues and continue to grow as a coach, teacher, and team member.

We are excited to introduce Coach Mann as the newest member of the SHMS Family!
Hi there! My name is Tyler Mann and I am a Physical Education teacher at Sylvan Hills Middle School. I am super excited to have the opportunity to grow and make a positive impact in our community. My favorite part of teaching is getting to share the joy of sports and finding creative ways to make physical activity fun for my students. Outside of school, I love being involved in the local community theatre scene in Little Rock. My main goal for this year is to create a strong culture of learning through physical fitness and build a sense of community among our students. I can't wait to see what we can achieve together!
