Recently, several Mills University Studies High School students auditioned for the Region 2 All Region Choir. Out of the hundreds of students who auditioned, we had one student who scored well enough to make the choir and one student who is an alternate!

Big congratulations to these students! Their hard work and dedication pays off. Also, special thanks to Ms. Rounds for leading them as their instructor!

CONGRATULATIONS to our recently named September teacher and students of the month!

Ms. Galloway, a 9th grade English and professional communications teacher, was named teacher of the month! One of her colleagues said that she works hard and pushes herself and her students to accomplish all that they can. She also coaches junior varsity cheer and helps with many school activities.

Our students of the month were the following:

9th grade - Emily Escalante Rodriguez
10th grade - Mattox McKee
11th grade - Christian Mason
12th grade - A'Nora Davis

These students are hard-working and dedicated scholars who have good attendance, good attitudes, and good grades.

We are proud of all of these people!

👨‍⚖️ Nearly 100 students from every PCSSD high school took an oath this morning to serve in Teen Court! 👩‍⚖️

⚖️ Teen Court empowers students to act as judges, jurors, and advocates, using restorative justice to help their peers learn from mistakes and make better choices.

🏫 PCSSD is proud to be the only district in Arkansas with a school-based Teen Court model, where students earn class credit while gaining real-world experience in justice and leadership.

📊 Studies show that teens who participate in Teen Court are less likely to reoffend compared to those in the traditional court system—proof that student leadership makes a difference! #PCSSDproud #TeenCourt #ServeAll

Our city parks are so valuable, and our MUSH students got a chance to be part of the Boyle Park Beautification with the Adopt-A-Park Program recently!

They earned community service hours when they spent four hours cleaning up litter, inspecting park equipment and utilities, and working on reports containing issues around the park. Students also came up with possible solutions to submit to the City of Little Rock targeting the improvement of this vital public space.

MUSHS students recently had the opportunity to earn community service hours by helping at the Arkansas Food Bank. Our students packed over 1,700 pounds of rice and over 5,100 pounds of food total. This work provided 4,300 meals for seniors citizens in need in our area. We are so thankful for this partnership with AFB and our students to help our community!

The 5-time boys basketball champions of Comet Nation have entered a new Galaxy. Dozens walked through the arena for the first time today and learned the building will be named after Coach Raymond A Cooper, who led Mills University Studies High School to state titles in 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2025. Some of those players made a basket with students today.. Here are the top ten pictures from the event. #PCSSDproud #ServeAll

In Mr. Lewis's physical science students had the pleasure of guest speaker Dr. Varnell with Arkansas AIMS demonstrating a density lab for them. They got to experience the physical properties that the various liquids exhibited and wrote a lab report about what they observed and what they would hypothesize about them as well.

Ms. Prewett's AP Psychology class recently built models of the human brain using Play-Doh. They had to model the hypothalamus, brain stem, lobes, cerebellum, and more! In addition to building the model, the students had to write what that part of the brain is responsible for and how it affects the human body as well.

If you missed senior family night last week, never fear! The school counselors are meeting with seniors during their English classes this week to make sure they get the information. Please check with your senior about their green folder FULL of important dates, information, and paperwork. Our counselors are here to help, and if you need anything at all, please call the school and ask for Ms. Deneke or Ms. Spaight.

MUSHS students have several opportunities to get community service hours in October! Almost all of them will be during school hours, but students need to communicate with the appropriate teacher or sponsor to get the process started. You and your student can sit down and look at this calendar to see what would work best. If you have questions, you can call the school and ask for Mr. Fairley.
