Students in Coach Lee's Freshman Seminar class had the opportunity to hear from special guests on Monday. Representatives from the media visited the class to talk about careers in journalism. Special thanks Caitrin Assaf, Steven Goodale and Laura Monteverdi from KARK for coming out to speak to our students. It was a great experience!

PCSSD and MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH have a number of fine arts programs, including theatre. The school puts on annual productions with students taking on roles such as set design, costume design, acting, directing, lighting and audio. Students from Mills University Studies AVID class visited College Station Elementary Monday for their third "AVID buddies" session. This week's topic focused on team building as the groups worked together to solve a silent maze. Afterwards, the students read an article and worked to mark the text together.

September was Attendance Awareness Month and we challenged all students to be a H.E.R.O. Students were tasked to be Here...Everyday...Ready...On time and we had some great results! MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH had 3/4 weeks with 95% or higher attendance, with 1 week at 94%.

Congratulations to the newly sworn-in members of the PCSSD Teen Court for MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH! Teen Court is a class for students to hear cases of offenses committed by other students in the school and implement restorative justice principles. During the school year, MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH has the opportunity for TWO students to represent our school and student body at the monthly Board of Education meetings. Last night, senior Jaiya Arrington represented our school at the October meeting. We're so thankful for her hard work and willingness to represent the Comets. Way to go, Jaiya! Our next rep will be in February.
