The Arkansas Department of Health continues to provide guidance for Arkansans who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and have been recommended to quarantine.

January is School Board Appreciation Month and we asked our board members to share a little about themselves. Stephen Delaney likes reading newspapers on microfilm at the library. He enjoys the old political cartoons and Cynthia Howell/George Bentley stories covering past Arkansas K-12 education issues. Jon Kennedy is his favorite cartoonist but George Fisher is a close second. One thing he's learned during the pandemic is just how crucial public education is for EVERYONE including those without school-age children. We all need healthy, safe, and functional public schools! Good afternoon Mills High Parents and Guardians. My name is Dr. Carlethia Houston, and I'm the Graduation Coach and Parent Liaison. One focus of my job is to ensure that students grades 9 through 12 are obtaining on time credits in preparation for graduation. Due to the high number of failing grades for the semester, Mills High has implemented an academic intervention where students have the opportunity to make up any missed or failing work that will allow them to obtain a passing grade for the semester. The students have received this information along with the contract in their emails. First, the student must contact the teacher of the class where a failing semester grade was received and ask for the work necessary to receive a passing grade. Second, students must complete that work and turn it in to the teacher. This intervention is available to all students, grades nine through 12, with a focus on seniors trying to meet on time graduation requirements. Please check the school’s website, under NEWS for a copy of the letter that was sent to students and the contract that students are asked to sign. The final date for students to turn in this makeup work is Friday, January 29, 2021. Please help us help your child do what is necessary to obtain passing grades. She has 3 daughters and currently works as a political liaison. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and traveling One thing she learned during the pandemic is to enjoy quality time with my family. Her family spent every weekend this spring and summer in our RV at different lakes, rivers and campgrounds around the region.
