Recently several Mills University Studies High School students who are in Competitive Speech class attended a tournament at Little Rock Central High School. It was a great first experience for our team and was a good learning experience for all. One student did win the coveted Khyree Allison Award for Debate Excellence: Xavion Mclennan. Congratulations to all of our students, and thanks to Ms. Turnage for sponsoring!

Did you know Mills University Studies High School has a strong internship/work program? Our students are out there interning and working and learning so much!
The students pictured here are just a few in our large program. We have Braden Owens at David's Burgers on Warden Road, Devin Barrentine at Cinemark, David Clark at Top Golf, Davionna Tidwell at Sonic on Broadway, and Takora Russell at Main Event. All five of these students work hard and keep up their grades and shine in extracurricular events.
We are very proud of this program, all that Mr. McGrew does to facilitate it, and everything that these students are learning and contributing to themselves, their families, and their communities!

Mills University Studies High School is PROUD to present our first two teachers of the month for the 2024-25 school year.
For September, our teacher is Ms. Prewett. Her nominating colleague said, "Mrs. Prewett has worked diligently to orchestrate clubs here at Mills. She consistently communicates expectations with staff, creates sign-up forms for students, and spends hours sorting through the data to ensure all students have a place to go (whether it is study hall or an actual club) on club days. This is a large feat for one person and over 500 students. However, Mrs. Prewett does it to ensure a smooth system is in place and to avoid or minimize chaos in our operation on club days. Furthermore, as things change, Mrs. Prewett has to use her planning time to ensure that needs are met and students are placed appropriately for clubs."
For October, our teacher is Mr. Thompson. One of his colleagues stated that, "Mr. Thompson works hard to help all students learn and grow. He teaches in a way that connects to real-life problems, like saving the environment. This helps us become smart and caring people in the world."
We are so thankful for these teachers making the impact that they do! Congratulations to the first two recipients of this award this year!

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour when you go to bed tonight. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. - meaning you "gain" an hour of sleep. There are only two states that don't observe DST: Hawaii and Arizona (with the exception of Navajo Nation). #pcssdproud #serveall

We're coming down to the end of the regular season - every game counts! Good luck to ROBINSON, SYLVAN HILLS, MAUMELLE and MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH all on the road tonight. Catch the action on our livestream: https://www.pcssd.org/page/sports-network #pcssdproud #serveall

Celebrated in Mexico, Día de los Muertos has roots in both ancient Aztec customs and All Souls' Day introduced by the Spanish in the 1500s. This holiday centers on families gathering to pay respect to friends and family who have died. #pcssdproud #serveall
